Theraputic Clown Study

Clinical Study

For three months we filmed therapeutic clowns for a research study. The study was headed by Dr. Pia Kontos of the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute and filming took place at a long-term care hospital in Toronto.

The study's goal was to observe and measure the effects of therapeutic clowing with patients of dementia.  We filmed, in the most inconspicuos way, pairs of clowns as they interacted with the patients, capturing the slightest response nuances for the researchers' benefit.  The resulting footage was analyzed by a team of researchers and also screened at health conferences around the world.

Note: Due to confidentiality, clips of the project showing patients can not be shown.
